Will Stevie J.'s Property Be Seized to Pay Off Massive Child Support Debt?

Stevie J. and Joseline Hernandez Reunited Amid Stevie's June 9 Arrest

The state of New York is apparently getting impatient for Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’s Stevie J. to pay back the child support he’s said to owe.

Stevie was arrested last week, June 9, for allegedly failing to pay $1.2 million in child support over the span of 14 years, to care for his two children with ex-girlfriend Carol Bennett. He’s not locked up anymore, thanks to his wife, Joseline Hernandez, who bailed him out on a $25,000 bond. It doesn’t seem like he’s losing sleep over his financial issues, since he went clubbing in Atlanta on Thursday.

But Stevie’s problems are not behind him; TMZ got its hands on documents that inform Stevie that New York can seize any property he owns to pay off that massive debt. The state reportedly sent Stevie four separate notifications in the past — between 2011 and 2013 — but he didn’t seem to take them seriously. That’s trouble enough, but TMZ added that — on top of child support claims — Stevie allegedly has IRS issues, with four income tax liens against him totalling $371,000.

Yikes.

Sounds like Stevie might be that guy who heads to the restroom the second the check comes out at the restaurant.

However, Stevie’s attorney does not agree that his client owes more than a million dollars in child support. He said Stevie has been a great dad, and if there’s any child support money owed, it’s nowhere near that stratospheric amount. No word from him on the IRS allegations yet. Just add the bills to the growing pile?
